Legend of Mana Dragon%: Summer Lovin’

This is part of a first-playthrough guide using the Dragon story arc. It covers both the original PSX version and the 2021 HD remaster, though some place and item names differ slightly in the latter. You can find an overview of the Dragon% path here.

The Quick Version

If you’ve been following this guide in order, you’ve completed (or are about to complete) the Dragon story arc. Apart from completing one of the game’s major plot arcs, the main requirement for reaching the endgame is just to have placed a lot of Artifacts and thus created a lot of Lands. We need a few more beyond those provided directly in the Dragon arc, and we’re going to get them by going to Madora Beach and visiting some penguins.

Place any Artifacts you have yet to place, then go to Madora Beach. After witnessing a brief dialogue, make your way through the cave system to the right and eventually you’ll fight a giant hermit crab. The penguins will appear again and give you two new Artifacts, the Rusty Anchor and the Moon’s Mirror.

The Details

To get to the boss room from the room where Valerie and David talk, go:

  • Right until you reach the Sunrise Caverns
  • Lower right, right, right, upper left to Prince Beach
  • Left to get to King’s Caverns
  • Left, then lower right to reach the boss

FAQ/Troubleshooting

What’s with all the crabs running around?

You need to step on 20 of them (across all the rooms they appear in) to trigger an optional sidequest called Buried Treasure. This minigame can be tricky and frustrating but is not at all necessary unless you’re trying to 100% your quest completion (not our goal in this first-time guide).
