| Vanilla | Original or unmodified. A randomizer or other mod, though generally not an official remake, might be contrasted with the vanilla version of the same game. That boss has way more HP than he does in vanilla. |
| Vector | A vector is a quantity with both magnitude and direction, used to represent position, velocity, etc. In 3D Mario games, vectoring is a set of techniques for gaining airspeed by traveling at a diagonal relative to the direction in which one left the ground. Vectoring lets us get through this level a bit faster than usual. |
